On May 21, 2026, an enlightening and informative event, hosted by the European Chamber of Commerce. Three panels discussing topics from trade, defence, and economic security, and how Canada's relationship with Europe can remain steadfast, reinforcing its partnership, and navigating uncertainty as nations and the business community reorganize themselves to promote stability for citizens across allied nations and the world.
There was a sense of optimism for collaboration, but also sobering dialogue on mitigating risk, and creating the right conditions for a brighter future. George Martincek, our Entrepreneur Member and founder of Pro Wear Inc., was pleased to attend and engage with fellow business leaders and policymakers at this important forum. As a Canadian company with experience supplying the Department of National Defence, George found the panel on defence and economic security particularly resonant — especially the dialogue around Canada's evolving Defence Industrial Policy and the Canada-EU SAFE agreement. The discussions underscored how businesses across the supply chain have a role to play in strengthening allied resilience and operational readiness.
