|Golf Tournament 2011||Meadowbrook Golf & Country Club||Gormley, ON L0H 1G0|
The 24th annual golf tournament of the SCCC took place on September 12 at the private Meadowbrook Golf & Country Club, which has been our popular venue for the last five years. More than 80 players enjoyed a beautiful and sunny day of golfing and were later joined by half a dozen novice golfers, who attended our newly introduced golf clinic in the afternoon. In the evening we welcomed over 100 guests for dinner, raffles, entertainment and the Grand Prize draw.
Among our popular hole activities was the Chalet Sujsse, kindly sponsored by Lombard Insurance with Chef Herzig and Ueli from H.U.H Imports serving Cheese Raclette (generously donated by Emmi Canada), Bündner-Fleisch and white wine, assisted by the charming ladies from the Swiss Club in national costume/Tracht, one of them playing the alphorn. The Gelato Fresco hole, kindly sponsored by Lindt & Sprüngli, where gourmet ice cream was being offered, was another big hit.
Nespresso was present at the tournament again, with gracious hosts Kiki and Alex serving free Espressos and Cappuccinos throughout the entire event. Another treat were the freshly baked muffins donated by Marché Restaurants. Lunch was kindly sponsored by Stikeman Eliot LLP, while Nestlé Canada donated spring water and chocolate treats on the carts. Furthermore, every golfer and dinner guest went home with a $20 Lindt voucher and a 20% coupon for Velago patio furniture.
Before and after golf, the players had the chance to participate in a putting contest, which was co-sponsored by 2 Market International. A big ‘thank you’ also goes to Kuehne + Nagel and Sue Fernandez for sponsoring and manning the $10,000 hole-in-one. Alvin Gozum from Elegant Shots Photography did a terrific job again taking pictures throughout the day and evening, which were displayed during dinner.
This year, the 2nd Grand Prize was a patio furniture set, kindly offered by Velago Patio Furniture, which was won by Wolfgang Kyser from Euromart Realty Group. The 1st Grand Prize consisted of 2 return business class tickets from Montreal to Zurich generously sponsored by Swiss International Air Lines and an 8-day first class train pass for two in Switzerland sponsored by Tourism Switzerland. The lucky winner was David Ratcliffe from Hottinger Asset Management. The Grand Prize was presented by Mirko Capodanno, head of Switzerland Tourism, and by Andreas Kräuchi, Vice-President and CFO of Swiss Air Lines in Montreal, who made the much appreciated trip to our tournament with his colleague Peter Stalder of Swiss in Toronto,We would like to sincerely thank all sponsors, big and small, for their contributions and continued support of the SCCC golf tournament. A big thank you also goes to the golf committee members as well as to all our volunteers who were an essential part in making this day a success. Last but not least we would like to thank all our members and guests who participated in this exciting event; we hope to see you again in 2012!
