The 2012 Canadian German Swiss Golf Tournament Defies Weather Predictions
The weather forecast was wrong! Over 130 golfers who made their way to the picturesque Carrying Place Golf & Country Club on June 6th were delighted with the Canadian German Swiss Golf Tournament. With only a brief rain spell during lunch, golfers set off to play 18 holes under blue skies in Kettleby, Ontario.
After registration and enjoying a hearty BBQ lunch with German sausages sponsored by Denninger’s Foods of the World and salads and cookies by Marché Restaurant, the golfers were ready to go out on the course for the shotgun start. There were various activities on the course, such as the putting contest and the hole-in-ones, sponsored by BMW Group Canada and Kuehne & Nagel Ltd. Culinary highlights included the Gelato Fresco ice cream station, and the Chalet Suisse with an original Swiss cheese raclette station, served with cured beef and white wine.
After an exciting golf tournament, the CGCIC and the SCCC invited their guests for a cocktail reception, which offered an opportunity for golfers to mingle and talk about their game, as well as place bids at the silent auction. Raffle tickets were sold throughout the day with a grand prize of 2 Westjet tickets, sponsored by Hope Air.
The evening was rounded off with a delicious dinner and the awards ceremony. Bernard Lette, Managing Director, Lette LLP and Chairman of the tournament, was the Master of Ceremony and hosted charmingly throughout the evening. David Steeves, Volunteer Pilot at Hope Air, presented the awards to the winning team and individual winners. David emphasized in his speech the importance of supporting Hope Air and its cause, which is to serve Canadians in financial need by providing free air transportation for medical care not available in the patient's home community. With the proceeds from the silent auction and raffle, we are once again happy to support the charity organization Hope Air.
