·        Interesting story about the rescue sleds used by the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC). These red sleds are called “Kanadier” and hundreds of them are stationed all over the Swiss Alps along Alpine roads and hiking routes waiting to be used in case of emergencies. Thousands more of these sleds are used by the Swiss army. Nobody knows how the first “Kanadier” arrived in Switzerland but it is speculated that this type of sled has been in use in the Canadian arctic for centuries. It  can be used both for sliding on the snow as well as to carry an injured person.
